I should feel lucky with the current situation that I am in, because it is a whole lot better than what it would have been.
But then I went on a field trip this morning to McCallum Printing Group. I thought that this would be an inspiring trip, because the process of printing can be so fascinating. We got to walk through all the steps. The pre-press, to the press, to the cutting and binding and all the works. It was definitely cool, and seeing the process go from computers to quarter-million dollar machines, to the guillotine, to the binding, to the shrink wrapping, and even to the envelope inserts and address printing was eye-opening, but it was depressing in a way. Seeing all these large publications being produced, brochures, pamphlets, things that most people normally throw out, etc. was really depressing. The incredible process all this paper goes through most often gets thrown in the garbage or forgotten.
And then I couldn’t drive to his house, I had to drive home. But at least he is a couple of hours away and only for a few days at a time. Just need to allow myself some time to adjust.
in the meantime, thank God for cats.
