Today I learned that ‘nog’ in ‘egg nog’ means alcohol.
These are the events leading up to when I acquired this knowledge.
We went to my cousin’s house deep in the ‘burbs for a really fantastic meal. I kicked myself for forgetting my camera because the dishes were so beautifully arranged, and the various kinds of food whet all kinds of appetites at once....

when you are pushed, and in an attempt to stabilize yourself, the bracelet you’ve been wearing for 4 years gets caught between your hand and the wall and as a result, a bead breaks off.
i salvaged half of the bead, and i need to find something to do with it. it has, afterall, accompanied me throughout some big moments in my life.
